Bruce A. Schultz began his career as a trial lawyer in Madison in 1978. The federal judge in Indiana for whom Bruce was a clerk brought his staff to Madison while sitting as a visiting judge. Bruce decided to stay.
For more than 20 years Bruce has tried cases in circuit courts throughout the state and in the federal courts in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. He has handled appeals in the state appellate and supreme courts, as well as the 7th Circuit.
Philosophically, being prepared for trial is the key to achieving the best result for clients. The litigation process should involve making complex facts and issues understandable. Transforming a client's problem into something more complex than necessary is not the objective.
Bruce has tried a multitude of personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits involving motor vehicles, premises liability, construction accidents, products liability, electrocutions, electrical contact and gas explosions. He has tried cases involving medical and other areas of professional malpractice. Bruce has been involved in tobacco litigation, including actions brought by governmental entities, individual plaintiffs and purported class actions. He has represented pharmaceutical companies in both product claims and anti-trust actions. He has also litigated and arbitrated commercial disputes involving issues as diverse as the final reclamation of an open pit coal mine in Montana to the alleged forfeiture of an ownership interest in a multimillion dollar electric generating plant.
